Tree Spirits discuss

BARK

,,,reminding us that, when Barking up the Wee Trees

there's a vast Selection of Fabrics out there...

One can Go where no Wee Tree has gone before!

Beyond Corduroy!

well, ok, the main thing is:

the Dollmaker is back to making Dolls.. so...

Let the Dollmaking Begin!

Re-designing the straight-sided Doll Bodies..

Adding (subtracting) a

Waistline!

a simple waistline definition

(along with a smaller head...)

(..and a Fashionable Hat!)

resulting in a more feminine appearance! LOL

Oh you can just imagine!

The Dollmaker is going to have gangs of fun

designing and embellishing multitudinous fabulous new

Gowns!

Traditionally Banned from the Dollmaker's repertoire..

as a Symbol of Violence!

And yet, Now... having previously taken exception to

to the point where

she needed a crash course in Sword-making...

she who, on general principles,

formerly astutely avoided Representations of Violence

scheduled a Woodworking/Brainstorming Day

with Thomas Greisen

where, besides wrangling with the feminization of straight pieces of wood

she found herself pairing certain Sword-wielding Characters

with the Type of Sword they would use...

 for example...

King Arthur and the burly Knights would have preferred a sword

which could deliver a good Bashing...

The Broad Sword

Now, for practicality

 and general ease in Slashing

during pillaging, ship-boarding, and aerial rigging encounters,

 Pirates and other Sea-Worthies

prefer the iconic curved blade of

The Saber Sword

(notice how Thomas seems to have an aptitude for these things... lol)

Whereas,

Musketeers, aristocratic gentlemen, besotted flamboyant fops, Inigo Montoya

and anyone whose belligerent temperament obliges

the throwing down of a Gauntlet

will likely choose

The Rapier (or Fencing) Sword

 for Dueling..

This sword would be worthy of

such infamous characters as

ah, but there would always be that inherent Violence...

When the Heart and the Sword

come together...

so ok get ready. The Ultimate Shocking News is:

 Our Legendary King-

Founder and Ruler of

our King who recently faced Losing his whole Kingdom..

 King George is Dead

by his own hand.

Founder. Strategist. World Traveler. Collector. Businessman.

Builder of an actual functioning Kingdom.

A Kingdom which was and still is

a Lifeline for Hundreds of Artists -like the Dollmaker-

A visionary Fantasy Village

where Patrons are Playing or just happily Watching the show go by

where Artisans are appreciated and having fun

making money doing what they love to do.

That was George.

He was very good at making money by doing

 what he loved to do.

A Horticulturist, he set to building Beautiful Dreamscapes..

a Rose Garden. A Water Garden. A Chapel.

All Functional...

Stages. Medieval Architecture! Stucco! Statues!

 Privies with flush toilets!!

(see the "improvement" Insert  below)

Always Always Pouring Money and Time and Love (and assets)

 back into the Faire

for 50 years.

Showing the Artisans how it's done.. by example.

The Dollmaker has followed his example

striving every year to have "something new" in the Doll Shoppe!

Now he had his detractors, as obnoxious as he could be...

There's no denying, regrettably, that many fell (or dived) by the wayside

as will happen

during the reigns of Historical Kings...

George's Benevolence/Ruthlessness is Legend.

Right from the day he personally juried the

into

He and the Dollmaker shared a relationship of mutual Respect.

Over the Years the Dollmaker slowly realized that George was

Intentionally Helping her.

He noticed that folks rarely turned left at the front gate

so, King George built a half-a-million dollar Stage (The Odeon)

in order to draw patrons down towards the Dollmaker's Shoppe.

Around that time he also ordered

a $1000 Wee Peeple Portrait Doll of himself.

And at the Dollmaker's impudent insistence,

he threw a party so that his finished Portrait Doll

could be delivered Majestically!

For eleven years he allowed the Dollmaker

to throw a Wild Party (The Giggle Fest),

(She has always held that the Giggle Fest was a Community Service.)

and George actually listened and acted upon

the few suggestions the Dollmaker made during the Covid years...

He included her in an invitation to be part of an elite group of

TRF Artisans recruited to create a Stage Production similar to the Lion King.

And In 2011 when the Dollmaker lost her home in the Bastrop Fire

King George arrived at her Doll Shoppe and purchased

Seven Fairy and Angel Dolls totaling over $1000..

Forty eight years participating-

playing her little part as Lady Kandra, the Towne Dollmaker.

in an Event which entertained hundreds of thousands of people...

Again she marvels at the sheer number of people

whose lives this one man touched!

At the number of people whose lives were Changed!

How will this Historical Figure be remembered?

Will it be a Dollmaker or maybe a Judge or a Township- throwing together

another portrait doll of him, a man stiff-jointed,

Faceless but for a face of stone

The Key still attached to his wrist..

holding a mocked up "Heraldic Banner"

in which he represents himself

as

The King of Hearts.

King George treated the Dollmaker as a fellow Artisan.

He loved her Dolls. He loved her Shoppe.

He loved her Sign!

She was but a wee part of The Saga of King George.

But in the Dollmaker's Bio

HE figures as

a Very Important Person!

yes, some may find it strange but

The Dollmaker knew King George

as a generous and benevolent soul.

He Supported her Dollmaking business in every way he could.

She will say that she stood on the shoulders of a great man.

A true King of Hearts.

And she wholeheartedly Gives Thanks for having had that opportunity.

to run her Own precious

 at

After having taken charge of the business of his own death

the Dollmaker and particularly his Poker-playing pals

couldn't help but notice..

How he symbolically makes a last Royal Appearance

 on this final two-dimensional Stage...

 as The Suicide King

What the?  How...

He's on a veritable Playing Card? Really?

Right.

The arcane symbolism was not lost "in the shuffle" so to speak...

...quite accurate, historically speaking...

 What? What?

It is understood that the new Owners (aka: the Greeks) of

are not planning to change a thing at the moment.

All the Contracts with the Vendors have been signed for this year.

Everything is basically in order.

(shakes head)

(well... it is possible that Things might get tied up in probate court for a spell...)

Nobody knows exactly

what the Future holds for the Festival.

But it seems to be

 in the new Owners interests

to keep TRF a Kingdom-

and not parcel off the grounds as

 common "Real Estate".

oh faint! Heaven forbid!!

so, right HO! and Huzzah.

Long live

A great Mother's Day with darling daughter Shannon!

A visit to the Doll Shoppe to do routine maintenance...

Big Thanks goes out to John R for an awesome job!
