Dollmaker Onboard!
December and- my-oh-my! Look at that!
It's the Smithville Train!
a rare sighting of the Smithville Train- like a child's drawing come to life..
like it was rushed off the desk of a first grader and sent straight to the manufacturer...
w So in a small town, well, the Smithville Library just up and called a Holiday!
and for their Open House they gave away food and hot chocolate
AND they
spirited out the elusive Train to benevolently provide the community with free
TRAIN RIDES!
Roll on Train! Right Down MAIN!
|
AND we Know the guy DRIVING the Main Lane Train: It's our buddy D'ane! The guy from the City- one and the same who hung the Mandala and built the frame!
|
Crazy Small Town FUN!
And, for the Dollmaker, Winter Begins.
ahem... not so fast...
So... lest it be completely (already) forgotten... there was
that One Last Jolly Weekend in
at the
on the 50th Anniversary of
The Grand Finale!
The ludicrous er- Lucrative! ..er.. Three Day Weekend!
oh yes~ nothing says Festive like BLACK Friday!
Witness the Magic Melding of Thanksgiving to Christmas in a single Day!
and nothing says Celtic like- um- well, here's a Yule Log:
Right Ho Ho Ho!
SO! NOW it can be Told!
Which person in this picture
is being "furtive" - buying a doll
secretly for a gift?
Can you guess?
(Top right corner...)
Spontaneity is key... when one least expected it...
cleverly disguised as a Pirate... inconspicuous in the motley crowd...
a Conspirator arrived!
The Fairy Door was not only NOTICED
but Knocked Upon!! The Secret Knock was employed!
This is how the Wee Peeple know their own kind!
Mystical and transformative!
Transformative, indeed!
What a Year! Clothespins - now known as "Doll Pins"
tried their best to steal the show.
Those old-fashioned Clothespin Dolls
..made into Fairies, Angels, Wizards, Greenmen etc..
yup. Celtic Christmas was their preferred Themed Weekend!
Many visitors envisioned these small dollfriends
nestled in the branches of the Yule Tree!
The Dollmaker was pleased with her Free Ad in the
50th Year Anniversary Issue of the TRF Program...
and then...
Closing Day was Sunday, December 1st, 2024
and - finally- the dawning of the last day..
The steam rose from her coffee cup while
the Dollmaker bucked up to herd Dolls toward pedestals..
She was Happy. Not a trace of bittersweet sentiment.
Glad to be moving on to the next adventure...
That night those dolls who had declined to leave the premises
in the company of New Friends
were all packed up neatly in boxes and taken home
to be photographed for the December Online Doll Sale.
...and that went well.
So, yes, it was a good year for the Dollmaker...
was an amazing Project..
...lately given recognition in the Smithville Magazine..
yes, Public Art
is one way to really bring the Community together.
This year she met (and photographed) ALL THESE PEOPLE!!
for the
Many of her photographs were used in creating the final poster
commemorating the Nature of the Arts Project:
yes, it was a good year.
And now it must end, like all those gone before..
as the World Turns! LOL
And WE turn- to face the Light of the Morning of another New Dawn...
